Dolce & Gabanna Waistcoat
UNIQUENESS
The men’s waistcoat is one of those long-forgotten items of clothing killed by a decade or so of dress-down Fridays that have managed to slowly bleed into the rest of the workweek. There was an age, however, when gentleman ruled the Earth, and it wasn’t uncommon to sport a waistcoat on the weekend. Now, with the revival of a more youth culture, comes a much-needed reinterpretation of the classics. And this D&G waistcoat is no exception. It comes in navy velvet tipped in twill with a patterned satin back — hardly clothes from grandpa’s closet.
DURABILITY
About the only thing more exciting than the number of people who cop a feel when you vest up in velvet (trust us — it’s a strange but true phenomenon), is the versatility a piece like this can have in your everyday fall wardrobe. A waistcoat is the ideal alternative to a stuffier sport coat, and it works wonders both on and off the clock. Gray trousers for the office are easily swapped with lean, dark denim. As for the top half, well, before you go reaching for a T-shirt, the far less douchey D&G of today would likely recommend a white button-down and a slim black tie.
